About FOLU India

The Food and Land Use Coalition (FOLU) is a global community of country platforms, partner organizations and Ambassadors working to advance sustainability, equity and resilience in food and land use systems. Created in 2017, FOLU supports diversity, embraces disruptive thinking and forges consensus through an evidence-based approach. The coalition empowers farmers, policymakers, businesses, investors and civil society to unlock collective action at scale.

The FOLU Coalition in India includes the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), Revitalising Rainfed Agriculture Network (RRAN), The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and WRI India.

 

Vision

The vision of FOLU India is a nutritionally secure, healthy and prosperous India, which is sustainably managing its food and land use systems, supported by a productive, efficient and inclusive economy.

and Water (CEEW)

The Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) is one of Asia’s leading not-for-profit policy research institutions and among the world’s top climate think tanks. The Council uses data, integrated analysis, and strategic outreach to explain — and change — the use, reuse, and misuse of resources.

Revitalising Rainfed Agriculture
Network (RRAN)

RRA Network brings together civil society organisations, researchers, practitioners and policy makers with the vision to establish productive and resilient rainfed agriculture.

Action Coalitions of FOLU

CREST

In 2021, FOLU India launched the Coalition for Responsible Sourcing and Trade of Commodities (CREST) together with the Centre for Responsible Business (CRB), the Sustainable Trade Initiative India (IDH), the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) India, and WRI India. The main objective of this coalition is to lead India’s stewardship in global trade and to share learnings with countries that export agricultural and forest-related products to the country.

Friends of Champions 12.3 India

Friends of Champions 12.3 India Network brings together like-minded companies and organizations to align their efforts and build collaborative agenda for reducing food loss and food waste in India. The Network aims to inspire ambition and mobilize action across food supply chains, continuing the global movement led by Champions 12.3 for achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Target 12.3 by 2030. Friends of Champions 12.3 India network is led by WRI India with support from FOLU India.
